sir,
I am commanded by the Army Council to tranamit
to you herewith certain documents regarding the case of
Max A.Lorenzen, a German prisoner-of-war until recently
interned at Hong-Kong, and now in Australia, together with
copies of two letters from the General Officer Commanding
the China Command.
I am to acquaint you, for the information of
Mr. Secretary Bonar Law, that in the circumstances disclosed,
the Council would have no objection to the release of
Lorenzen on parole, and to suggest that, if Mr. Bonar Law
seea fit, the necessary action may be taken to this end.
It is understood that he is prepared to pay the cost of his
journey to Tientsin:
